About...

Lies Colman was admitted to the Antwerp Conservatoire at the age of fourteen as a free student in the piano class of J. Detiège. At seventeen, she temporarily left the conservatory for the universities of Antwerp and Ghent, where she successively obtained degrees in law and comparative cultural science. She then returned to the Antwerp Conservatoire, where she studied piano with E. Rodrigues and R. Groslot and violin with D. Mijajev, and also obtained her Master's degree here, this time in Music.

Lies performed in countries including Germany, France, Norway, Spain, Portugal, Croatia, the Netherlands, Morocco, Switzerland, Austria, South Africa, Brunei, Indonesia and the Philippines. She participated in various (inter)national radio and TV broadcasts, recorded several CDs and also made the step into opera and music theatre.

In 2013 she became Guest Professor of Piano at her alma mater, the Royal Conservatoire of Antwerp. Since 2016, she has been a member of the Artistic Direction there for the Music Classical and Educational Master's programmes in Music.

Never shy of a challenge, she graduated in 2021 as a Master in Business Administration at the London Graduate School and subsequently embarked on a Doctorate in the Arts. Her artistic and research focus is on creative and interdisciplinary collaborations, contemporary creations and

innovative artistic practices within a

societal context, but she keeps a

special place in her heart and on stage

for the romantic and classical

repertoire.

In February 2023 Lies Colman took

up the position as Director of the

Roya Conservatoire of The Hague.
